The
capital of southern Shan State, over 1430 meters above sea-
level. all the year round it is a hill station, cool and
splendid with pine dad natural resort. The market, on every
fifth days is crowded with ethnic minorities in the traditional
dresses. The journey from Taunggyi down to Inle Lake is about an
hour. It is an ideal town for leisure travelers during the
summer the festival of the hot air balloon is the most famous in
Myanmar too.
A
16th century pagoda complex, located about 39 km south of
Taunggyi. Over 2000 pagodas are clustered in a small valley,
surrounded by thick woods and lush meadows and pleasant site to
discover for all travelers.
Another
peaceful and tranquil hill summer resort in southern Shan state
is Kalaw, above 1400 meters sea-level. Kalaw is situated 71 km
west of Taunggyi beautiful and cool with fragrant pinewoods and
lovely walks makes Kalaw perfect for trekking and native
cultural life style experience.
One
pleasant site in Shan state, above 1183 meters sea-level. About
45 km by car from Kalaw and only about 2hrs drive from Heho
Airport. Pindaya's major population is Taung-yoe and it is
well-known for its extensive limestone caves which are set deep
in the hillsides, there stands at the entrance, a 15 meters high
Shwe U Min Pagoda.
